AUDREY'S STYLE: Yellow Maxi Dress

 Hello lovelies!
My maternity wardrobe has become increasingly limited. What can I say? The third trimester is threatening to make me desperate. Since I go out of the house a few times a week, when I go to Church on Sundays I have my one chance to dress up. Hence, the above outfit.
This yellow maxi dress is among my favorite items. I usually wear it for special occasions, an opportunity I take advantage of to find different ways to style it. (Look out for this week's Throwback Thursday post for a summary of the different ways I have worn this maxi dress.) For a simple yet interesting maternity look, I wore it with a polka dot blouse (I can't comfortably wear a halter neck to Church so I usually wear a coat for cover-up) and added a slim belt which I promptly removed after Mass. I kept my accessories to a minimum to allow the maxi dress to stand out as a statement piece. So my accessories consisted of an oxblood handbag and red wedge sandals.
One of the things I am trying very hard to work on is to wear stylish, colorful clothes during my maternity period. I don't want to wear shapeless maternity clothes. So I spend a lot of time picking out suitable clothes. What I have discovered so far is that I can wear clothes that are a size or two larger than my pre-maternity size and still look good and feel comfortable.
Everybody is talking about new year's resolutions which is a good thing considering the new lease of life a new year brings with it. I have come up with a list of things I want to work on these first 6 months of 2014 and among them is to make an effort to take create my signature style. I know what kinds of clothes and accessories I like but it will be nice to actually pay attention to who I am and what makes me comfortable and thus create a signature style. I will write more about this at a later date.

Thank you for stopping by.

ACCESSORIZE: Headbands

****I have already mentioned my love for accessories on this blog. In this post I will be taking one item of accessory and show-casing the different types available in the market. I will show you how it has been styled by other bloggers or celebrities. I will also style this item. This is in order to give you a few ideas on how you can wear a particular accessory. Enjoy! I've been on the look out for something interesting to do with my hair for a while now. I have had braids on my head for the last maybe 8 months (different ones, of course)! And I'm tired, my hair is tired and I'm dying for  a change. As I move around looking for different types of accessories, hair accessories are usually big on my list. At the moment it's headbands. Yes, Blair Waldorf has finally caught up with me. Some might argue that I'm past that age but I think they channel the inner girl in me. Even at the recent Golden Globes, some celebs were spotted wearing headbands.  Charl

WHAT I WORE: Nairobi Designers' Forum

Hi all. I hope you had a good weekend. I've had the busiest weekend in a long time. But I'm not complaining. I've come to discover that when I throw myself into my work, I do it better and I don't stress about anything. Yellow maxi dress, embellished sweater, and  mum's leg.  On Saturday I attended the Nairobi Designers Forum hosted by Kipawa Creatives. The forum was organized to bring together people in the different arts so that we can learn about each other's endeavours and learn a few things from each other.  I wore my yellow maxi dress which I am totally in love with. I previously wore it here. I paired it with my embellished purple sweater and brown/nude pumps. I like to think of brown as another neutral together with black, white, grey and blue. That was the reasoning behind my choice of accessories.  These heels were love at first sight. I had gone to the market to get my mum some shoes and I spotted these, tried them on and they
