ACCESSORIZE: Headbands

****I have already mentioned my love for accessories on this blog. In this post I will be taking one item of accessory and show-casing the different types available in the market. I will show you how it has been styled by other bloggers or celebrities. I will also style this item. This is in order to give you a few ideas on how you can wear a particular accessory. Enjoy!

I've been on the look out for something interesting to do with my hair for a while now. I have had braids on my head for the last maybe 8 months (different ones, of course)! And I'm tired, my hair is tired and I'm dying for a change. As I move around looking for different types of accessories, hair accessories are usually big on my list. At the moment it's headbands. Yes, Blair Waldorf has finally caught up with me. Some might argue that I'm past that age but I think they channel the inner girl in me. Even at the recent Golden Globes, some celebs were spotted wearing headbands.

What I wore: Feminine silhouettes

Over the years, I've noticed that my personal style has evolved. Apart from my preference for comfort, I've learned to love more feminine pieces, so much so that I now prefer dresses over trousers. Maybe this has to do with the fact that it is blistering hot right now and just the thought of putting on a constricting pair of jeans at the moment makes me feel like I will melt. Or, I've been influenced, haha! You see, baby girl loves herself a dress or two. So she might have had a hand in getting me to wear more dresses than trousers. Anyway, my preferred silhouette when it comes to dresses is bodycon or a-line/skater-style. They're super easy to style, in formal or casual shoes, and can be worn for every occasion from the office, to lunch with the girls to a night out. This dress checks all those boxes. What I wore: Drop-waist LBD

Hi, come closer, let me whisper something. Wearing this dress had me feeling myself! I felt like a Queen. Like I could conquer the world. I felt an inner strength that I hadn't felt in a long time. You know how they say your appearance plays a big role in how you feel about yourself? I'm here to tell you that this is so true. I'm not saying that we should all abandon hard work and using our brains and only concentrate on our looks but if you want a simple fix on a day when you feel, to put it simply, meh, dress up. I had been thinking about a drop waist dress with a flouncy hemline ever since I watched Lydia Millen's edit with Karen Millen. I can't explain why.
