STYLIST: FULL VOLUME SKIRT

Hi all!! Happy November to you all!!
Maxi skirts and pencil skirts not to mention tutus have been all the rage for a long time now. I still can't get enough of these skirts. However, there are a new brand of skirts that have been making the rounds. I've noticed more than one blogger rocking full volume skirts and it got me kinda partial to this out of the ordinary style.

Full volume skirts call to mind those Cinderella dresses that some of us wore as little girls. They give the impression of twirling and make one feel like a princess. Hey, we are all princesses in our own right but it doesn't hurt to have an item of clothing to remind you hahaha!!

From Blair of Atlantic-Pacific to Kryz Uy of Thirsty Thought, these bloggers have shown that you don't have to be 6 years old to wear these skirts. You can look as chic and elegant in a full volume skirt as you would in a pencil skirt. All it takes is a little sophisticated styling and you are off to go.

Select from the wide array of lengths, colors and even patterns that are available. Wear it with  a fitted top or cropped top to create some balance and pair it with a classic pair of pumps. Add a belt to accentuate your waist and you are good to go. For a relaxed look, wear this skirt with sandals for a day spent running errands or hanging out with friends. The best thing about a full volume skirt? You do not need to wear it with tons of accessories since the skirt stands out on its own!!

Would you wear a full volume skirt? Let me know your thoughts on this skirt in the comments below.

Thank you for stopping by!

I hope you had a great weekend. Happy Monday!!

A Pop of Colour

I tend to gravitate towards darker colours. To counter that, I always look for ways to add some colour to my outfits. Red accessories tend to be my go-to when it comes to adding pops of colour be it in the form of red shoes, a red necklace or some red lipstick. I've started using this same philosophy in life by doing something that I know will give me joy. It doesn't have to be anything extraordinary. Most of the time it's doing something I enjoy, like writing in my journal or reading a few chapters of my novel. Other times it's performing a task that I have been postponing for a while, like clearing out my laptop or talking to a friend. The end result is always a feeling of accomplishment. I look at this time as 'me time'; an opportunity to add some colour to my life.  Outfit Details: Dress - Thrifted (Gikomba); Coat - Gift; Shoes - Gift; Necklace - Old (Instagram shop); Earrings - Gift With this post, I have finally caught up with pending pos...

Style Challenge Day 19 - Belt your outerwear

Day 19 of 30. I confess that I have reached that point in the style challenge where I am quickly running out of new styling ideas hence the multitude of black dresses that I have featured. I love wearing black and now that I need to start coming up with outfits that feature a lot more colour, I have to really rack my brain. Back to today's outfit. Lately, when it comes to outerwear, I have been gravitating towards cropped jackets and coats. But I still have a few longer ones like this army-inspired, khaki green, sleeveless jacket being one of them. I absolutely love wearing it with dresses and this black chiffon midi dress was no exception. Of course I went for black accessories with the black belt worn over the jacket, black patent leather pointy-toe flats and black earrings. What do you think of the outfit? Is belting your outerwear something that you would do? Do share in the comments below. Outfit Details: Dress and jacket: Thrifted Belt: old Shoes: Bus Sta...

How I Learnt To Leave Everything in God's Hands

For a long time (about four years), things hadn't been going the way I had hoped and planned. Everything seemed to be falling apart. To say that I was stressed is an understatement. I would sit on my bed asking God why he would allow so many bad things to happen to me. I would ask him when my light at the end of the tunnel was going to appear. It reached a point where I basically gave up. I couldn't even bring myself to ask God to bless me with this or that. I would often say to myself, "What's the point? My prayers won't even get answered. Something bad is still going to be waiting for me around the corner no matter how hard I pray." I knew all the teachings that we should always have faith in God. I would often recall that hymn that comes from Isaiah 49:15, 'Can a mother forget a baby at her breast and have no compassion for the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will never forget you.' And verse 16 of the same chapter, 'See ...
