WHAT I WORE: Chinos and Lace

Hi all!!
I hope June has been going well for you. I don't wear trousers as much as I used to. In fact when i was in college, it was very hard to find me wearing a skirt or dress. But as the years have gone by, my style choices have also changed.
I wore these chinos, again, for a job interview. It was for an artsy-related job so I paired it with a lace top and my new wedges. My main purpose of getting box braids was so that I can have a "healthy" looking up-do (read big). And this is what these braids have allowed me to do. Feather earrings and a basket completed my outfit.
 Outfit Details:

Lace top: Kawangware Market, Nairobi
Wedges: Bus Station, Nairobi

I have been working on a new Inches To Style which I had hoped to launch at the beginning of this month, but there are still a few technical things to sort out. I hope it will be up soon.

What new things have you been trying out lately? Clothes, accessories, hairstyles. Let me know in the comments

 Happy Wednesday!!!

How I Learnt To Leave Everything in God's Hands

For a long time (about four years), things hadn't been going the way I had hoped and planned. Everything seemed to be falling apart. To say that I was stressed is an understatement. I would sit on my bed asking God why he would allow so many bad things to happen to me. I would ask him when my light at the end of the tunnel was going to appear. It reached a point where I basically gave up. I couldn't even bring myself to ask God to bless me with this or that. I would often say to myself, "What's the point? My prayers won't even get answered. Something bad is still going to be waiting for me around the corner no matter how hard I pray." I knew all the teachings that we should always have faith in God. I would often recall that hymn that comes from Isaiah 49:15, 'Can a mother forget a baby at her breast and have no compassion for the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will never forget you.' And verse 16 of the same chapter, 'See ...

A Pop of Colour

I tend to gravitate towards darker colours. To counter that, I always look for ways to add some colour to my outfits. Red accessories tend to be my go-to when it comes to adding pops of colour be it in the form of red shoes, a red necklace or some red lipstick. I've started using this same philosophy in life by doing something that I know will give me joy. It doesn't have to be anything extraordinary. Most of the time it's doing something I enjoy, like writing in my journal or reading a few chapters of my novel. Other times it's performing a task that I have been postponing for a while, like clearing out my laptop or talking to a friend. The end result is always a feeling of accomplishment. I look at this time as 'me time'; an opportunity to add some colour to my life.  Outfit Details: Dress - Thrifted (Gikomba); Coat - Gift; Shoes - Gift; Necklace - Old (Instagram shop); Earrings - Gift With this post, I have finally caught up with pending pos...
