Red Carpet Favourites | Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards 2017

There's just something about red carpet looks that always motivates me to up my style game. I don't know when I will ever have the chance to walk a red carpet so that I can don a gorgeous gown and have my make-up and hair done by professionals, but in the meantime, let me make do with admiring celebrity red carpet looks.
Much like for the Oscars, my favourites when it came to the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards included outfits with lots of very interesting details. I loved intricate beadwork and applique's placed strategically, varying textures and of course exaggerated sleeves. These simple details made these outfits stand out to me.
Below are my favourite red carpet looks from this year's AMVCAs.

DIY: Little Black Dress

So last week I took out this dress which I'd bought a while back and made up my mind to change it. I'd been unable to wear it when I got it because there was something about it that I didn't like. So I took out my scissors and cut off about 2 inches and voila! I had a better version of the dress. I'm really excited as this is my first do-it-yourself project. Winter is kicking in here and the nights are quite cold. I wore this to a party and paired it with stockings and boots, it was a short notice and I didn't have time to get the boots that I had wanted to wear it with. So these ones had to serve the purpose. I added the sweater and necklace to add some colour and not look too dull. I'm looking forward to dressing up this dress in different ways!

Miss Elly Turns Six

Happy 2020! I know I'm so late but there's no better way to get back into blogging than by marking my baby's birthday. Baby girl is six today! I've spent the day wondering how to adequately express my surprise at how fast time has flown and the joy this journey has afforded me. Since she came into my life, I've wondered what mark I will make in her life, what lessons I will teach her, and though morbid, what memories I will leave her when I'm gone. I do hope that when she's old enough to read these posts, she will have a glimpse into her mother's passions and get to know me a little better. Now all I need to do is be more consistent here. This is for you Elly. Happy birthday my love. Follow me on:  Facebook ,  Instagram  and Sign up to  Email Notifications here .

AUDREY'S STYLE: Combatted Denim

Hello lovelies!  The weather in Nairobi has been quite cold of late. It's even more evident in the house which tends to be colder than outside. Last week I had to take my sister shopping so I opted for distressed jeans, previously worn here , (I told you they are a new favorite!), a t-shirt and striped sweater. I was feeling quite cold so I added a scarf and combat boots. Outfit Details: Jeans: from my sister Sweater: Gikomba Boots: Ngara Scarf: Gikomba Bag: India Have you tried combat or army boots? How else would you style them? Do share in the comments below, on Facebook , Instagram or Twitter . Happy Thursday and thank you for stopping by! xo Audrey
