What I wore: Alladin pants

Denim will always hold a special place in my heart but in the last two years, when it gets hot outside, I just can't stand wearing denim. That made me shop for trousers made of lighter fabrics, those that breath more easily and would ensure that I didn't cook in my clothes. Enter these harem pants.

Where to begin? I love the colour, they're light enough to repel the sun's rays. Their neutral colour can very easily be paired with any other colour in my closet. I can wear them to work, a huge plus, and they're quite flattering.

The only issue I have with them is which shoes to style them with aside from sandals but we'll find a solution.

On this day it was particularly hot. So I opted to for a simple black corset-style top and light denim jacket for when the temperature dipped later in the day. I added the necklace for some drama and some black sandals to complete the outfit.

If you were to wear these trousers out, what shoes would you pair them with?

STYLISH FIRST LADIES

Hi all! Today we Kenyans will get out fourth President. As much as there's pomp and fanfare, I'm more interested in seeing our new First Lady's style. On Sunday I read an article in the Daily Nation about First Ladies and style by Carol Odero and it got me thinking. I therefore decided to write a post about First Ladies around the globe and their style. Chinese First Lady, Peng Liyuan She has been pegged as First Lady to watch. Her style is more out there than her predecessors. Image She has been known to prefer outfits made in China. Image Cameroon First Lady, Chantal Biya As little as I know about her, I love that her style is daring. She's not the typical First Lady in understated outfits. And her hair...enough said! Image Image Image Samantha Cameron Mrs Cameron wears a lot of blue, but who's complaining? She looks fab. I love the simplicity of her outfits and the subtle prints. PLACES TO VISIT: KARURA FOREST

Hi all!! Travel is one of my passions. I've always wanted to visit new places and learn new things. One of my resolutions this year is to take time out to visit different parts of Kenya. And then I will share the posts with you. My first Places to Visit post is on my trip to Karura Forest. A little history about the forest:  Karura Forest is located in Nairobi. Several tributaries of the Nairobi River flow through the forest. The forest is managed by the Kenya Forest Service and when there were threats to use parts of the forest to put up housing, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Wangari Maathai working through her Green Belt Movement, put up a fight to protect the forest and hence one of the city's water catchment areas. And in that way, one of our most important indigenous forests was saved from encroachment. My Experiences from the Trip: I went to Karura before the weather became cold and rainy. Although it was very hot that time of year, once inside the forest,...

HOW TO: WEAR ANKLE BOOTS

Hello lovelies!  Happy new month! Boots are an essential item of any ladies' wardrobe. To add some variety from the typical calf-length or knee-high boots, why not invest in a pair of ankle boots? They are stylish and just as versatile as regular boots. Below I have styled ankle boots in three ways. Ankle Boots 3 Ways 1. Day-time For a chic daytime look, pair your ankle boots with an a skirt, lace top and leather jacket. Switch the leather jacket for a blazer to make this outfit appropriate for the office. Add stockings for extra warmth. I chose stockings with extra detailing on the leg to keep the outfit interesting. 2. Casual Wear For a day spent running errands or when you want to dress down, pair the same ankle boots with distressed boyfriend jeans, a coat and fedora. Use a leather belt to cinch your coat around your waist. Switch the high heel booties for flat ones, if you prefer. 3. Night-Out Nights can get quite chilly and inst...
